Google recently published new research about searches of “roofers near me”.
And heads up, these searches are on the decline. It’s not that this isn’t being put into Google, it’s just showing up less. That leaves us wondering — is “near me” going away?
It’s not that demand for local roofing companies has gone away — far from it!
In fact, now the “roofer near me” inquiry is implied. Today, consumers expect their answers to be contextually relevant.
If I search for a roofing company, I expect to see the ones “near me” already not requiring the location. It has, in a sense, become too much work to type in a location. Google should automatically know what we’re thinking, right?
What we are seeing is a big increase in the use of “best” as a choice modifier. “Best roofer,” “best roofing company,” and so on. That’s the growth space in phrase usage and let’s face it, as consumers, this is where we’ve always wanted to be.
We’ve had to wait for technology to catch up and become as reliable as our friends have always been. Search engines should be able to read our minds, and now they can (to an extent of course!)
What Impact Does This Have On Your Roofing Business?
Well, given that Google, Bing, Yahoo and all engines still trade on trust, your data needs to be trustworthy. It must show why you are the “best”.
Also, as technology better comprehends unspoken demands, it looks for patterns.
By sifting through years of data, it identifies what trustworthy patterns look like. And those are the results you see in your browser on both desktops and mobile devices.
Specifically the search engines consider several factors, including:
1. How long your visitors are staying on your website
2. How many pages are viewed
2. How many reviews do you have
3. What do your social signals look like
Keep in mind, Google’s recent research shows that people are making their first judgement of any product or service before calling.
Your Web Presence Must Show and Tell Them:
1. Why your roofing company can be trusted
2. Why your company has the necessary expertise
3. Why they should choose you over your competitor, and
4. Why you are the best roofer in your city!
Market your company as the very best in the business. Then convince the visitor it would be a mistake to go anywhere else.
